Andalusian Culture at its Most Authentic
Cadiz is something different, and not only because it has the best fresh orange juice I’ve ever had! Living in this cortijo in Prado del Rey means experiencing Andalusian culture at its most authentic. Here, locals still stop to listen to a street artist singing flamenco. The bartender welcomes you to his motherland, delighted that you’re enjoying the white-sand beaches of the Andalusian west coast. In Cádiz, you’ll see people embracing the simple pleasures of life and, with a little Andalusian exaggeration, have the art of slow living carved into their souls. Here, you’ll experience a different side of Andalusia, one that feels authentic, unhurried and deeply connected to its traditions. And it is definitely the one that will steal your heart! One thing is for sure: if you want to see, feel and live the essence of Andalusia this is the perfect property to call home.
Creating Your Own Olive Oil
Did you already know that Spain is the world’s leading producer of olive oil? So, what could be more Andalusian than having your very own olive grove? I’m not kidding when I say that, after a few weeks here, you won’t be able to survive one day without olive oil! Producing these Andalusian olives means contributing to the Andalusian essence, and there is nothing more satisfying.
One of the property’s most remarkable features is its olive grove with approximately 200 centenario olive trees. With a grove of this size, you would be able to provide around 1.500 litres of your own extra virgin olive oil. Just imagine it. Who wouldn’t want that? And don’t worry, if farming isn’t exactly your passion. There are plenty of professionals willing to put their heart and soul into your land, taking care of the olive trees and ensure the whole process runs smoothly until you receive your very own olive oil. The possibilities are therefore quite exciting.
With an olive grove of this size, it could even be possible to make a small profit out of your production! It really depends on your business model. If you sell your oil in bulk, you could earn between € 3 and € 5 per litre. But, if you decide to make your own brand and go for oil bottling, you could sell between € 12 and € 25 per litre. Whether you see it as a business opportunity, a hobby or simply a wonderful way to enjoy your own Andalusian olive oil, this grove adds something truly special to the property. After all, how many people can say that the olive oil on their kitchen table comes from the trees growing just outside their own home?
Is this Cortijo with Olive Grove already sounding like a Luxury Country Gem?
Exploring Your Land and Surroundings with Horses
An olive grove is not the only thing this property has to offer. It also offers history and character. This amazing cortijo used to be a horse breeding farm, of which some authentic features have been kept intact. It has a horse stable with 12 boxes (approx. 3 x 3m) and several store rooms of which one used to be the tack room. There is also a sand school at the back of the stable. You can imagine this property to be a second home for horses if you’d like. The land offers grazing land and sufficient space for hay storage, as well as a shelter or walk-in stable.
One of the most exciting aspects of this Cortijo with Olive Grove is the access to horse riding routes directly from the property. Rather than having to load your horses into a trailer and drive somewhere to find a trail, you can simply saddle up and set off from home. From the rolling hills of Prado del Rey to the surrounding mesmerising forests of oak, carob, pine and wild olive trees, the countryside provides a beautiful setting for exploring on horseback. One of the routes can take you towards the Ermita de Nuestra Señora de las Montañas Coronada, a charming chapel on the edge of the village.
Imagine starting your morning at the finca, riding through the peaceful Andalusian countryside and eventually making your way towards the chapel, before returning home as your belly starts craving a taste of the peaches growing in your backyard. This is where the equestrian facilities become more than just another feature of the property. They become part of your lifestyle. Your horses are at home with you. Your riding routes begin at your own front door. And every day you get the opportunity to discover another corner of the Cadiz countryside.
Living Your Andalusian Lifestyle
But perhaps the most exciting thing about this property is not any individual feature. It’s the lifestyle that comes with it. Let’s imagine for a moment this is your new home. You wake up in the peaceful countryside of Cadiz, surrounded by olive trees. You have just launched your Bed & Breakfast with a few private rooms. But, here is the twist. The product you’re selling is not just a beautiful room in the majestic countryside of Prado del Rey. It’s an experience. An experience of Andalusian culture and tradition and of reconnecting with nature.
First, you offer accommodation in the middle of a beautiful olive grove. Once in a while, if your guests are interested, you give them a tour around the property and show them how the delicious olive oil they enjoy is created. Second, the breakfast you serve comes straight from your own garden. You grow your own vegetables and fruit and even have a chicken pen for fresh eggs.
Third, you own a couple of horses which you take out for equestrian tours. There is plenty of land to explore on your own property, but you also keep getting mesmerised by the countryside of Cadiz and explore all the possible horseback riding trails from and to the property.
Of course, you don’t have to be a horse enthusiast to enjoy everything the area has to offer. The surrounding countryside is perfect for hiking, cycling and exploring. You can go hiking in Grazalema Natural Park, or walk the Caminito del Rey. And if you’re looking for something a little more adventurous, you can go kitesurfing in Cadiz or do the Via Ferrata in Ronda.
The beauty of this cortijo is that with a Bed & Breakfast, you would be able sell a lifestyle, a peek into Andalusian countryside living, an unforgettable experience. It makes your guests want to come back every year to reconnect with that feeling of tranquility they get when they stay at your beautiful B&B. And, let’s not forget, you would be living this dream life every day.
