In the mountains of Malaga, Andalusia, Spain, you will find an absolutely stunning historic country home that dates back to 1780s! The property is an old “lagar”, a mill for vines first, and later for olives. The current design respects the authentic and historic features of this beautiful building and combines it with light, modern & minimalistic features.
This historic country property has been in renovation for the last 15 years and is finally finished inside! The property is accessed by an easy and short dirt-track of approximately 1.5km. Upon entrance, an old era, used as parking space. The property is East facing, with gorgeous morning sun and spectacular sights over the Maroma mountain & neighbouring villages. The property is built over 2 floors.
The 736 m2 property is accessed by large wooden doors, opening up to a bright entrance hall, leading to the different parts of the property. Directly to the left, on a split level, some steps up lead to the kitchen/laundry. A large kitchen island and the breakfast table are the centre of the space. The kitchen is fully equipped and is of modern design. From the main entrance, straight ahead, a cosy lounge gives way to the formal dining area and living room. This lounge is also the grape fermentation vat room. The owners have preserved them in the ground, as a tribute to the past. From the ground floor you can access the back patio. From here you can enjoy spectacular views over the mountainous landscape as well as the neighbouring villages Periana & Canillas de Aceituno. From here you look out onto the Maroma as well, the highest mountain in Malaga! Which has a snowy tip during the colder seasons. The patio features a pizza oven and a fun bar!
Back inside, 3 additional ensuite bedrooms are located on the first floor, each with their private lounge and views to the countryside. On the first floor, you can also access the 2 mezzanines looking out onto the living room. One of them is a private indoor terrace from a bedroom, and the other is the TV corner. From the first floor, a completely separate guest or staff annex can be accessed from the exterior. A 2 bedroom staff annex has been created.
All bedrooms are equipped with individual AC units, hot and cold, and all bathrooms have their own boiler for hot water. As a bonus, accessed from outside, right underneath the staff annex, and facing the back patio, there is an approximate space of 200m2 that is yet to be developed. This can become a fun games room, an interior chill out, a cinema, a music room…
The exterior of the property still needs to be fully landscaped. There are already olive trees, almond trees and some citrus trees planted but is in need of TLC. The pool area also still needs to be fine-tuned. The pool, registered as an alberca, is still missing some space for sun loungers.
This historic country property has been fully renovated, including renewed plumbing and electrics and a completely new roof. Connected to Starlink WiFi, has alarm system. Mains electricity there is a spring for water supply. The water from the spring is pumped to several water deposits, totalling around 80.000L. In 1 night the spring can pump approximately 10.000L! Because of the history of this property, there is no DAFO nor LPO in place, can also not be obtained.
The property is at a 15 minute drive from Colmenar, where you can find shops, bars & restaurants… Málaga is only at a 40 minute drive, and the airport at 45 minutes. Sold fully furnished. It can be used perfectly as a large family home, or as a boutique Bed & Breakfast! It is not possible to obtain the hotel license here.
