Beautifully restored 16th Century Andalusian Hacienda, situated 80 km from Sevilla in the Natural Park Sierra Norte, a part of the Biosphere Reserve of Unesco. This historical building, with 5 apartments and 3 reception rooms, has been magnificently reformed, keeping many original details, yet the structure has been reinforced for the hacienda to survive many more centuries.
The first use of this spectacular country property was as an ice-factory, storing and providing ice for the city of Seville. Further on in history, the building was converted into a slaughterhouse and produced the famous Pata Negra ham. Nowadays, after restoration, it contains 5 spacious and well-finished apartments, a large reception area with catering facilities, o lovely lounge, many terraces and sitting areas and a pool. A stunning place, surrounded by an olive grove, where you can relax with friends and family, enjoying the spectacular natural setting of the Sierra Norte from Seville, Andalusia.
The building oozes charm and history. Many details of the old uses can still be found: the ice pits, the beams and nails to dry the ham, the old tiled ceilings, terracotta floors. Even though this used to be an industrial building, it feels very homely now and forms the perfect spot to spend time with friends and family or to use as a base for holidays to explore the many trails and hikes and to enjoy the authentic Andalusian cuisine in one of the Ventas (restaurants) on your route.
The large reception room gives way to the different apartments, a kitchen area, the chapel and the covered terrace. Each apartment also has its own entrance from the outside and four of them have their own terraces which make it ideal to rent out as well. One of the apartments is suitable for disabled people. It would be possible to create two more guest apartments if necessary. Next, to these, there is a studio for a caretaker. Secluded, a little bit away from the house you will find the large swimming pool and sunbathing terraces.
The restoration has been awarded a prize and a special mention by the Local Authorities and the EUROPA NOSTRA AWARDS 2006 in recognition of a valuable contribution to the conservation and enhancement of cultural heritage.
The property has its own water well, is connected to mains electricity and has 100 MB fibre optic internet. There is currently a project for a 25 kW solar panel system. It is located on a 1-hour drive from Seville airport and ideally situated, close to a railway station that will take you directly into the centre of Seville or Cordoba.
