I still remember well what my ideal house looked like when we decided to move to Spain. It had to be a property on the countryside with lots of land and nature around it. An olive grove would be nice as well, as was a pool and large covered terraces for wining and dining with friends and family. And where would these friends and family members stay if the came to visit us? In the fully equipped separate guesthouse!

Country property Gaucin

I love having family and friends over for holidays. When you have visitors you become a tourist again in your own area. Last week we had guests and I strolled up the castle area in our village Casares. I hadn’t been up there for a long time and was surpised how beautifully it was done up! We also went to the Picasso museum in Málaga, we visited the Alcazaba,  we went for the best icecream in Estepona and planned to go to the beach and many visitis to the beautiful white mountain villages like Gaucin. We skipped Ronda. That will stay in the pocket for the next bunch of visitors.

Separate guesthouse

After 10 lovely days of having people staying in my house I remembered why the seperate guesthouse was always high on my list. Guests come to spend a relaxed holiday in Andalusia. Yet, our lives continue as normal. The children go to school, have to finish their homework and have to study for exams. We get up in the morning at 7, prepare breakfast for everyone and try to get as much work done in half the time as usual. No I am not complaining! We thouroughly enjoyed the quality time spent with our guests. But there is nothing wrong with dreaming of having that separate little annex is there?
