Spectacular Equestrian Cortijo in the Sierra Norte de Sevilla with 58ha of land. A unique estate in an area of exceptional natural beauty. The soil here is soaked in history. The chapel on this particular property dates back to the 18th century. Various monasteries were located in the area, amongst which the famous monastery of the Cartuja Monks, on which this Cortijo looks out. Next to prayer, hard work of labour was put in by the monks, to provide wine, meat, olive oil and crops to the city of Seville. And still, the Sierra Norte is known for its unparalleled tranquillity, its amazing Iberian ham and its tasteful wines. It is an undiscovered pearl at just 15 minutes from the nearest village and just over 1-hour drive from the city of Seville and its airport.
The Cortijo was reformed and built for the family to enjoy and spend time together during the weekends and holidays. Entrance through a private drive crossing the olive grove leading to a large central patio with one side the main house, another side the chapel, and opposite the main house you will find the Exposition room and stables. The very spacious and lovely designed main house of approximately 400m2 built size has 9 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms. A hall leads into a large living area with fireplace, connected to a second lounge area, looking out over the fields towards the Cartuja Monastery.
There is a separate dining room with seating for at least 20 people, connected to the kitchen. The kitchen has a breakfast corner. The bedrooms are distributed on both wings of the Cortijo. The right wing has 4 spacious bedrooms with en suite bathrooms and also has a guest toilet reachable from the living quarters. The left wing has 3 bedrooms, one with bathroom ensuite and two sharing a bathroom. Behind the kitchen are two staff bedrooms, sharing a bathroom. A large play or TV room is positioned on the entresol.
The house is beautifully finished with chestnut beamed high ceilings, central heating throughout (diesel fired), traditional tiling and cal-washed walls. It is of new construction but feels like a traditional Cortijo. The house is surrounded by lovely terraces and some steps up lead to the ‘alberca styled pool with ample sunbathing areas. It gives a truly rustic feel to this property.
Next to the main house is the precious little chapel. It has been restored keeping as many original details as possible. This little jewel gives true character to the property. The ruin of the former monks living quarters has been fully restored and is now the 3 bedroom caretakers house.
Opposite the main house is a large exhibition room of 140m2. It is currently in use to expose the exceptional collection of carriages. It is fully finished with proper flooring, roofing, has bathrooms and different compartments. It has been used in the past as well to organise events and weddings.
Below this exposition room are the 565m2 stable facilities, including a 2 bedroom caretakers house, 8 spacious boxes, a tack room and a barn and several storerooms. The building is surrounded by several paddocks and training areas. There is another stable area of 335m2 built size were the mares and foals are kept. Here is also an insemination box. Furthermore, the land has 225m2 of barns for sheep.
Furthermore, there is a paddle court, a bar with a BBQ area. There is a water tower and a large water reservoir. Also a restored old well.
The 58-hectare finca has 40 hectares planted with olives. Sheep and horses that graze the land in between the olive trees. A lot of detail has been put into this development. Where possible walls in the fields have been built the traditional way so it seems they have been there for centuries.
The property could be used for private purposes and/or for tourism. It has a license for equestrian tourism. It has its own water supply through a well and own electricity through solar panels and a back-up generator. Please contact us for more information.
