A well preserved authentic Cortijo with an olive mill, near Ronda, Málaga, Andalusia. The Cortijo, dating from 1835, has many authentic details. It has an old bread oven, some mosaic floors and almost all the equipment from the antique olive mill has been preserved. The magnificent old Cortijo has a corridor that gives access to the beautiful authentic pebbled courtyard. Each of the 4 wings has its own usage. In one wing the olive mill and oil storage is located. The old millstones and the earthenware jars are still present. In the second wing, you will find the bread-oven, a chicken shed, the slaughter and curing room and several storage rooms. The main residence is distributed over the 2 remaining wings, over 2 floors. There is a large kitchen/dining room on the ground floor with a massive traditional fireplace. On the first floor: 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, 2 living rooms, a lounge with stunning views over the estate. There is a private chapel as well. The property is recognised by the Junta de Andalucia for its historical value and is described in the catalogue of old farmhouses.
Next to the main cortijo, there is a two-bedroom staff house. It is located a bit away from the main cortijo. Around the staff house you will also find stables, a large barn and the old courtyard for the animals. This part of the cortijo has quite deteriorated
The finca consists of beautiful gentle sloping land, mainly seeded with wheat. Some parts have the old terracing, dating back to the Moorish time and here you will still find almond trees. Also, there are some majestic over 500-year-old pine trees! At the bottom runs a small stream.
This Cortijo is a dream project to convert into a rural hotel or a large private estate. The land is partly suitable to grow vines and could be re-planted with olives. It is the ideal setting for a grand estate with a private lable olive oil. An Andalusian village is at a 5 minutes drive. Here you will find shops and many bars and restaurants. The lovely city Ronda, with all its facilities, is at a 25-minute drive. The dircet area, ‘Serranía de Cadiz’ is famous for hiking and biking.
