This true authentic Cortijo near Ronda, Andalusia, has gorgeous antique elements of an old mill. From the finca of nearly 30 hectares, there are panoramical views to the mountains of the Grazalema. This spectacular building dates back to 1725, and possibly has foundations of the Roman period. There are remains of the old mill, yet that part of the farmhouse has not been reformed and therefore, is not in habitable state. The farm has been partially reformed, maintaining the old structure of the house as well as some authentic design elements.
There are two entrance drives, directly from the main road, very easy access with ample parking. From the parking you can access the property through large antique doors in the arch onto the beautifully pebbled courtyard. From here you can access the different accommodations.
The main house is on the left of the courtyard. Next to it, the former chapel and a 1 bedroom apartment. A guard or staff house is on the right. Straight through the newly reformed stables, you will find a now 3 bedroom house. The part where the mill was located and the old cattle barn have not been restored yet.
This property oozes charm! It still has many antique details as the old millstones, authentic woodwork, 1 meter thick walls, the bell tower, the original fountain and original beamed ceilings and floors. The fountain is on the second courtyard, on the back of the house. This is where you will also find a large swimming pool.
The main house has been in use for holiday rentals. It has been restored in a traditional farmstyle. All plumbing and electricity have been renewed. Bathrooms on the hallway have been added to the property. In the current setting, it has 10 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. Stairs lead up lead to a large kitchen and steps down to a large sitting room. The hallway leads to the back courtyard with the fountain and pool.
The owners used to organise events here so there are extra toilets downstairs. Floors and ceilings are reinforced with steel beams here and there. Over the years, the beams have bent, so so have many of the floors. Next to the main house you will find a 1 bed apartment that still needs to be reformed. The 2 bedroom and 1 bathroom guard house is in a good state.
Furthermore the old stables have been transformed into a lovely barn house, with 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a lovely kitchen, and a large living room. This house has its own entrance on the back and its own pool/alberca. The old cattle shed and mill are inbetween the main house and the barn house and are not refurbished yet. They are blocked off at present. Behind the cortijo is a new built barn for tractors and equipment to work the finca.
The property has central heating on diesel, mains electricity and own water supply through a well. The 30 hectares of land is dryland an seeded with wheat or alfalfa. There is an area with fruit trees and an old small olive grove. The land could be planted with olive trees and is suitable to grow vines as well.
This historical property needs a new owner, interested in the history of this property, who can restore the grandeur of this fabulous Cortijo. Due to its size we can think of many uses. It could be a large private home with farm, a boutique hotel, a holiday resort, a Bodega. You can let you fantasy go wild here. It does need work to bring it up to a good standard though.
This unique country property is located at less than 10 minutes from the centre of Ronda, 50 minutes to Marbella, and 1 hour, 15 minutes to Malaga airport.
